Description
Shiitake (Lentinula edodes) Liquid Culture Syringe – 10ml / 10cc
Grow a Classic Gourmet Mushroom with Rich, Savory Flavor
Cultivate Shiitake mushrooms with our premium Grospore 10ml (10cc) liquid culture syringe. Known for their broad brown caps, firm texture, and deep umami flavor, Shiitake mushrooms are one of the most popular gourmet mushrooms in the world. The species is Lentinula edodes (formerly Lentinus edodes), sold in different markets as black forest mushroom, golden oak, xiang gu or pyogo — and frequently mis-typed as shitake or shittake.
Their distinctive taste, excellent cooking qualities, and attractive appearance make Shiitake an outstanding choice for home growers, culinary enthusiasts, and experienced mushroom cultivators.

Lab-Tested Liquid Culture for Reliable Growth
Our Grospore Shiitake Liquid Culture Syringe contains vigorous living mycelium, lab-tested and prepared in our ISO-certified cleanroom to support healthy colonization and dependable cultivation performance.
Each 10ml (10cc) syringe offers:
- Live Mycelium, Not Spores – This is a liquid culture (LC) syringe, not a spore syringe. There is no germination step, so colonization begins as soon as you inoculate.
- Lab-Tested & ISO Cleanroom Prepared – Every batch is lab-tested for purity and prepared in an ISO-certified cleanroom, so what reaches you is clean, contaminant-free and viable.
- Faster Colonization – Active mycelium helps promote efficient colonization compared with starting from spores.
- Convenient 10ml (10cc) Syringe – 10cc and 10ml are the same volume. Easy to use with appropriately prepared sterile growing media, grain spawn or agar.
- Commercial Strain Genetics – Cloned, isolated Lentinula edodes mycelium selected for indoor block production and consistent flushes.
How to Grow Shiitake Mushrooms
- Prepare the Substrate – Hardwood sawdust-based substrates and suitable hardwood materials are commonly used for Shiitake cultivation. The same syringe can also be used to inoculate sterilized grain spawn, grain jars or bags, or an agar plate.
- Inoculate – Inject 2–3cc (2–3ml) per grain jar or bag through a self-healing injection port, using sterile technique in a still air box or in front of a laminar flow hood.
- Colonize – Allow the mycelium to fully colonize and mature throughout the substrate under suitable incubation conditions.
- Initiate Fruiting – Once the substrate is fully colonized and properly matured, provide appropriate humidity, fresh-air exchange, indirect light, and suitable fruiting temperatures.
- Harvest & Enjoy – Harvest when the caps are well developed and firm for the best texture, appearance, and culinary quality.
Storage, Shelf Life & Shipping
Refrigerate your liquid culture syringe on arrival. Stored at 35–45°F (2–7°C), upright and out of direct light, it stays viable for 4–6 months. Orders ship fast from Oregon in discreet packaging, with tracking on every order and a 30-day return policy on unused items.

Stuart Bell –
I was not eager to reorder this one. The first syringe worked fine, but I assumed that was just one lucky run and that a second order might be less clean or slower. I only bought another because shiitake had become a regular part of what I keep going, and I did not feel like gambling on a different source. Glad I stuck with it. The second syringe looked just as healthy, stored well in the fridge, and performed about the same as the first, which is exactly what I wanted. Reordering usually tells you more than the first purchase does. In this case, it showed me the quality was consistent and not a fluke. I am still more cautious than enthusiastic, but yes, I would order it again.

I was honestly nervous, but it took off fast and looked clean in both jars.

Picked this up for my brother since he wanted to try a reliable shiitake culture without overspending. For what you get, it seemed like a fair buy, especially compared with pricier hobby supplies he usually ends up ordering.
Norman Beck –
After years of keeping a few cultures in rotation, shelf life matters more to me than flashy claims. I stored this one upright in the back of the fridge for just under two months before using it, and it still looked healthy with good visible strands. No slowdown, no odd discoloration, no surprises. That kind of reliability is why I keep coming back when I want a culture I can use on my schedule.

My plan for this culture was oddly specific: I wanted a dependable shiitake run for weekend ramen prep, not a grand experiment that turned my closet into a science fair. I inoculated two sterilized hardwood sawdust blocks after expanding on grain first, using about 2.5cc per bag and keeping everything as boring and clean as possible. Happily, the culture cooperated. Colonization looked even, the mycelium stayed vigorous, and nothing funky showed up to audition for a contamination documentary. After full maturation and fruiting, I got firm caps that held up well in broth and sliced nicely for stir fry too. That was the whole point, and for once the mushrooms respected the assignment. If your use case is steady kitchen production instead of hobby drama, this syringe makes a very convincing argument for itself.
