Description

Shiitake (Lentinula edodes) Liquid Culture Syringe – 10ml / 10cc

Grow a Classic Gourmet Mushroom with Rich, Savory Flavor

Cultivate Shiitake mushrooms with our premium Grospore 10ml (10cc) liquid culture syringe. Known for their broad brown caps, firm texture, and deep umami flavor, Shiitake mushrooms are one of the most popular gourmet mushrooms in the world. The species is Lentinula edodes (formerly Lentinus edodes), sold in different markets as black forest mushroom, golden oak, xiang gu or pyogo — and frequently mis-typed as shitake or shittake.

Their distinctive taste, excellent cooking qualities, and attractive appearance make Shiitake an outstanding choice for home growers, culinary enthusiasts, and experienced mushroom cultivators.

Why Choose Shiitake Mushrooms?

  • Rich Umami Flavor – Shiitake mushrooms are prized for their deep, savory flavor that adds complexity to a wide variety of dishes.
  • Firm, Meaty Texture – Their substantial caps maintain an excellent texture during cooking.
  • Classic Gourmet Variety – A longtime favorite in Asian cuisine and increasingly popular in kitchens worldwide.
  • Excellent Culinary Versatility – Ideal for stir-fries, soups, ramen, rice dishes, pasta, sauces, sautés, and roasted recipes.
  • Distinctive Appearance – Produces attractive brown caps with pale stems and a classic gourmet mushroom presentation.

Lab-Tested Liquid Culture for Reliable Growth

Our Grospore Shiitake Liquid Culture Syringe contains vigorous living mycelium, lab-tested and prepared in our ISO-certified cleanroom to support healthy colonization and dependable cultivation performance.

Each 10ml (10cc) syringe offers:

  • Live Mycelium, Not Spores – This is a liquid culture (LC) syringe, not a spore syringe. There is no germination step, so colonization begins as soon as you inoculate.
  • Lab-Tested & ISO Cleanroom Prepared – Every batch is lab-tested for purity and prepared in an ISO-certified cleanroom, so what reaches you is clean, contaminant-free and viable.
  • Faster Colonization – Active mycelium helps promote efficient colonization compared with starting from spores.
  • Convenient 10ml (10cc) Syringe – 10cc and 10ml are the same volume. Easy to use with appropriately prepared sterile growing media, grain spawn or agar.
  • Commercial Strain Genetics – Cloned, isolated Lentinula edodes mycelium selected for indoor block production and consistent flushes.

How to Grow Shiitake Mushrooms

  1. Prepare the Substrate – Hardwood sawdust-based substrates and suitable hardwood materials are commonly used for Shiitake cultivation. The same syringe can also be used to inoculate sterilized grain spawn, grain jars or bags, or an agar plate.
  2. Inoculate – Inject 2–3cc (2–3ml) per grain jar or bag through a self-healing injection port, using sterile technique in a still air box or in front of a laminar flow hood.
  3. Colonize – Allow the mycelium to fully colonize and mature throughout the substrate under suitable incubation conditions.
  4. Initiate Fruiting – Once the substrate is fully colonized and properly matured, provide appropriate humidity, fresh-air exchange, indirect light, and suitable fruiting temperatures.
  5. Harvest & Enjoy – Harvest when the caps are well developed and firm for the best texture, appearance, and culinary quality.

Storage, Shelf Life & Shipping

Refrigerate your liquid culture syringe on arrival. Stored at 35–45°F (2–7°C), upright and out of direct light, it stays viable for 4–6 months. Orders ship fast from Oregon in discreet packaging, with tracking on every order and a 30-day return policy on unused items.

  1. mush_mike

Quick note for anyone planning agar work first: this one transferred cleanly and showed nice ropey growth without me needing to babysit it. I stretched the syringe across several plates before moving the best section to grain, so the value felt solid. Not flashy, just a useful culture that did what I hoped.

  2. Jason Merritt

Packaging was straightforward and secure. The syringe was capped tightly, wrapped well, and arrived with the label easy to read. Nothing was crushed or leaking in the box, which is really all I want from a culture shipment.

  3. J.R.

Packed cleanly, arrived cold, and the syringe still looked healthy after a couple days in the fridge before I used it. I inoculated two grain bags with sterile technique and both took off evenly without any weird discoloration. I like that the liquid moved easily through the needle and did not clog up. Good option if you want a dependable gourmet culture without fuss.

  4. Dale U.

Before ordering, I asked customer service whether this was liquid culture or spores and what storage range they recommend. Reply was direct and useful, with no canned wording. That made setup easier and gave me enough confidence to buy.

  5. Rafiq Solano

Fast colonization, clean growth, and sturdy shiitake blocks. Exactly the outcome I hoped for.

  6. Colt

After my last shiitake culture from another seller crawled along and stalled on one jar, this one felt like a total reset. I used the same grain prep and almost the same temps, but the difference was obvious fast. The mycelium looked lively right away and colonization was much more even. Super happy with this run, and I’d absolutely choose this over my previous attempt again.

  7. Tafadzwa Chirwa

I order cultures a few times a year, so sloppy packing jumps out fast. This one arrived tidy, sealed well, and cushioned enough that nothing shifted in transit. Cold pack was still cool too, which I appreciated.

  8. Nolan P.

Used this for my first hardwood sawdust block after a failed run from another supplier, and the difference was obvious. Colonization was steady and dense, and the culture looked clean on agar before I committed it to grain. I also appreciated that the storage notes matched what I needed to know instead of making me dig through FAQs. Ended up with a healthy block and much less guesswork this time.

  9. Anonymous

No joke, this showed up crazy fast. Tracking updated the whole way.

  10. Tomasz W.

I’ve run a few shiitake cultures over the years, including one from another supplier that started slow and never really looked all that strong on grain. This syringe was noticeably more vigorous in the early stages and the growth looked cleaner too. I like having a reliable option for a variety I keep in regular rotation. Not flashy, just dependable, which honestly matters more to me now than big claims.

  11. Lewis Barrett

What I appreciated most was how specific the instructions were. They separated liquid culture from spores clearly, spelled out the 2 to 3cc amount per jar or bag, and noted sterile technique instead of assuming the buyer already knows the routine. Even the storage section was precise about temperature and keeping it upright. I still had to bring my own process, but the guidance removed a lot of ambiguity.

  12. Laleh Farzan

Picked this up for my uncle, who grows gourmet mushrooms and is very particular about directions. He said the storage notes and basic inoculation guidance were laid out clearly enough that he did not need to chase down extra forum posts before starting. I cannot speak to the grow itself because it was a gift, but he appreciated that the syringe info was straightforward and did not assume total beginners already know the routine.

  13. Yejin Hwang

What I paid attention to first was transit time and condition on arrival, because liquid culture is only useful if shipping does not cook it or bounce it around for a week. Tracking updated promptly after checkout, the package moved without long dead zones, and it showed up sooner than I expected for a culture order. The syringe was packed securely, the cap was tight, and nothing looked stressed from the trip. I also appreciated that it was discreet, which matters when deliveries sit in a shared mail area for a few hours. I put it straight into the fridge after opening the parcel and the culture still looked healthy and well suspended. I cannot speak for every route in every season, but from a shipping perspective this one checked the boxes I actually care about: fast movement, sensible packing, and no signs of rough handling.

  14. Rokhaya Diop

I keep coming back because the directions stay clear, simple, and easy to follow between batches.

  15. Abeer Haddou

After a pretty underwhelming shiitake culture from another seller, I was honestly relieved by this one. The liquid looked healthy, the syringe was easy to handle, and I saw much more even growth on my grain than I did last time. My earlier attempt stalled out and got patchy fast, but this culture behaved like it actually wanted to grow. Still taking it steady, but so far this has been a much better experience.
